Footprints In The Sand

Javelina! Ants!
Big and little pesky things..
Javelina footprints in the sand
Little ants footprints in the sand

We could post somebody by the compost pile to keep watch and scare the little pigs away, but, you know, who has time for that? Who would want to?!!!

And the javelina's would probably have the attendee jumping into the compost heap or running for cover...have you ever tried to corral a javelina? They run, they hop, they jump and f.a.s.t! They're scary when they are babies...let alone full grown...

Pesky little critters.
But, critters they are. It's hard to know what to do. They need food too...
...Food for their own survival so their babies can survive as well. It's natural to want to survive.
We certainly do. And we want to live forever. Food is important to that.
Food for the body, and food for the soul...
But those darned ole' Pesky Little Verses!

"Enter in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there are who go in thereat: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, that leads to life, and few there are who find it" (Mt. 7:13-14).

We have a gate.
It might help to have a fence first.
Right now, the javelina's are just enjoying the compost heap; but when we start planting...they will want all that delicious stuff too.

Just like us, they want what they want, good or bad for them.

There are lots of ways for them to get in at this point.
When we finally fix the fence and install the gate, it will be a lot harder, but darned if they won't try.

We'll have to be vigilant, outfox the foxes so to speak. We'll have to use some javelina frustrating techniques like, maybe, coyote pee!! They don't like coyotes.

"Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has not where to lay his head" (Lk. 9:58).

"I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound: everywhere and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer want" (Phil. 4:12).

Pesky little verses...

"You have heard that it has been said, You shall love your neighbor, and hate your enemy: but I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them who curse you, do good to them who hate you, and pray for them who despitefully use you, and persecute you" (Mt. 5:43-44).

Everywhere pesky verses...

"But when we respond to those pesky verses, they transform us into radically different people. The Corinthians heard Paul's preaching and were baptized into the church of the living God (Acts 18:8; 1 Cor. 12:13). Those pesky Bible verses will lead you to heaven at last."

We don't have any illusions about transforming javelinas or ants into anything other than what they are. We just want to frustrate their attempts to ruin the good that we anticipate.

We have to be vigilant. Be on the lookout. Learn how to thwart their attempts to ruin the good works we have ahead of us. We have lots more pesky things on the horizon as we plant tomatoes, melons, beans....
There will be all kinds of attempts to ruin the gains.

But, to have those gains we have to do the work that will keep the predators at bay.

"I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son: but I was a herdsman, and a gatherer of sycamore fruit: and the Lord took me as I followed the flock and the Lord said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.(Amos 7:12-17)

("Barnes notes: He promises humbly what he had been, what he had been made, not by merits, but by grace, that he had not assumed the prophetic office by hereditary right, nor had he begun to prophesy out of his own mind, but, being under the necessity of obeying, he had fulfilled the grace and the command of God who inspired and sent Him.")

...Vigilant against those who would steel our very souls.
